Employment Assessment Centres
Employment Assessment Centres provide needs assessment and return to work action plans. Job seekers can work with a professional counselor to develop a personalized plan to return to work. This return to work action plan allows a job seeker to identify and connect with the services they need.

Referral by an Assessment Centre counselor is required for many employment programs and services.

Career and Employment Counselling
Career and employment counselling services allows job seekers to identify a career path that best matches his or her skills with current demands in the labour market.

Employment Resource Centres

Resource centres provide you with free access to a comprehensive array of employment and career related resources to help you in your search for employment, including:
" Resume critiquing
" Job search coaching
" Career resources such as print material, videos, computer tutorials and business directories
" Use of computers with Internet and printer access
" Access to photocopier, fax, scanner and telephone

Skills Enhancement
Skills Enhancement Programs provides eligible job-seekers with the opportunity to access training that will help them to find work.

Job Search and Placement Services

Many organizations in our area provide services to assist individuals with job search and job placement, including:

" Job Finding Clubs
" Access to job developers who market job-seekers to employers, either with or without a wage subsidy
" Job Search workshops and seminars


Mentoring programs link ITPs (mentees) with individuals established in their field (mentors) for advice and guidance.

Bridging Programs
The Ontario government provides many programs to help newcomers get the work experience they need - these programs are called 'Bridge Training' Programs. They are run by employers, colleges, and universities, occupational regulating bodies, and community organizations. They can help you:
" Assess your education and skills
" Get Ontario job experience
" Identify any added training you may need.

English Language Training

English language training, from basic to advanced, is available through colleges, boards of education and community-based agencies.
